A road trip through British Columbia, in search of the best lines!
British Columbia has long been regarded as a top destination for ski touring, splitboarding, and backcountry enthusiasts. This land welcomes absurd amounts of powder each year, with a lightness that can literally take your breath away. It’s also home to top-tier resorts, offering some of the best off-piste and slackcountry terrain in the world. We’ve decided to combine all these opportunities into one trip.
Together with Lorne, our Canadian guide, we’ll take you on a journey through gems like Revelstoke, Lake Louise, and Kicking Horse – resorts that, besides classic off-piste skiing from lifts, serve as perfect bases for ski touring the surrounding peaks.
We will also visit the iconic Rogers Pass, the gateway to the world of backcountry skiing in the region, offering countless options for full-day tours, ending with “big mountain” descents.
As with any road trip, we’ll stop at various locations along the way – Golden, Lake Louise, Banff, and Revelstoke.
The entire trip is designed to meet the needs of both freeriders and ski tourers. If possible, we will divide into two groups with slightly different focuses. One thing is certain – to fully take advantage of the potential British Columbia offers, it’s worth bringing your touring gear.

OFF PISTE – Terrain Details:
- During resort days, we will use lifts, and thanks to our guide’s in-depth knowledge of the area, we will explore the available terrain. As we search for fresh, untracked snow, we’ll venture further into the area on touring skis or foot. The lifts at Kicking Horse and Revelstoke provide excellent access to the backcountry.
- Additionally, in Revelstoke, we have the option to take advantage of “Heli-Assisted Backcountry,” a one-time helicopter transfer to the higher mountain areas, where we’ll begin a touring trip.
- On ski touring (splitboarding) days, we will explore the heart of Glacier National Park, around Rogers Pass, which offers at least a dozen different options for full-day tours with elevation gains of 1000-1800 meters. The starting point is the pass, through which the Trans-Canada Highway runs.
- We highly recommend bringing touring gear, as easily accessible off-piste terrain from the lifts is often quickly tracked out, and it’s sometimes better to combine this with a bit of climbing to “earn your lines.”.
Difficulty Level: 7/10
- The range of options and the variation in difficulty are huge. Descent options include everything from wide slopes to forest runs with pillows, to steep couloirs with big mountain characteristics and “double black diamond” difficulty ratings. The difficulty of both descents and climbs will be selected by our certified Canadian guide, based on an assessment of each participant’s skills. This trip is aimed at advanced skiers and snowboarders.

Day 1 (February 17)
We depart early in the morning from Warsaw and land in Calgary in the afternoon on the same day, saving about 7 hours thanks to the time change. Upon landing, we’ll have a two-hour transfer to the mountains in Banff National Park.
Days 2-4
The plan for the first few days includes freeriding mixed with backcountry skiing in Banff and Kicking Horse. However, our guide may decide to change the order or locations depending on conditions.
Day 5
A day for rest and relaxation in hot springs and local pubs. It’s also a transfer day to Revelstoke. If we’re feeling up for it, we can also do a shorter ski tour along the way at Rogers Pass.
Days 6-9
The next 4 days will be filled with freeriding in Revelstoke and backcountry tours around Rogers Pass. One of the days, we have the option to use a helicopter to access more remote areas around Revelstoke (optional, additional cost). If anyone wants to take a day off, that’s no problem.
Day 10
A transfer day to Calgary, with a stop at the hot springs along the way. In the evening, we’ll check into a hotel near Calgary airport.
Day 11
We’ll depart for home in the afternoon. The journey will take over 12 hours, and due to the significant time difference, we’ll land in Warsaw in the afternoon of Day 12.
Day 12
Arrival in Warsaw.
